Fine Lines and Wrinkles
About
The consultations addressing fine lines and wrinkles may involve treatments administered into targeted areas of the face. This can reduce the appearance of wrinkles and aging skin. For example, dynamic Frown lines result from contraction of the glabellar complex muscles and convey irritation, frustration, or anger, and the reduction of these lines is one of the most common aesthetic complaints. Then, dynamic Horizontal forehead lines result from elevation of the eyebrows by contraction of the Frontalis muscle whose inhibition will smooth the overlying skin. Furthermore, dynamic Crow’s feet result from contraction of the lateral Orbicularis oculi muscle with smiling, laughing and squinting and by treating it we can reduce the Crow’s feet and smooth the overlying skin. Also, the dynamic bunny lines result from contraction of the nasalis muscle, and some people associate these lines with distaste and disapproval so by treating these lines including the horizontal lines at the root of the nose we are improving the aspect of the overlying skin. Dynamic lip lines are another aesthetic complaint which results from the contraction of the Orbicularis oris muscle and by addressing it we can reduce these lines and enhance lip fullness by everting the upper lip which is referred to as a ‘lip flip’.
The Eyebrow lift treatment involves treating the outer part of the eyebrow, particularly the superolateral Orbicularis oculi muscle which pulls the eyelid down conveying a fatigued or sad appearance. Following treatment, an upward pull of the outer part of the lateral eyebrows will be visible.
In a similar way, the treatment for a downturned smile involves treating the Depressor anguli oris mucles which pull the corners of the mouth down projecting a sad or sullen appearance. As a result, there is a new upward lift of the corners of the mouth.
A puckered or cobblestone appearance of the chin and a dynamic mental crease result from contraction of the Mentalis muscle. Treatment of this area usually smooths the chin surface, reduces mental crease, and elongates the face by improving the anterior projection of the chin.
The Non-surgical neck lift or Nefertiti lift procedure involves treating the Platysma muscle which wraps around the neck leading to the softening of the lines and wrinkles in the treated areas and also to a partial tightening and lifting of the skin of the neck, defining the jawline and reducing jowls.
The Gummy smile concern associated with deep nasolabial folds involves treating the Levator labii superioris alaeque nasi muscles. These muscles usually elevate the upper lip and by treating them, the treatment aims to avoid the excessive lifting of the upper lip during smiling and softening the nasolabial folds.
The Jawline Slimming targets the Masseter muscles. Hypertrophy of the Masseter muscles results in a square, angular jaw shape, with a widened lower face and additionally, can cause jaw clenching (bruxism), teeth grinding, and cracked dentition. Following treatment, these muscles will work less, and their size will decrease, leading to an overall rounded, slimmer jawline appearance, and protecting dentition associated with jaw clenching. The initial effect may start anywhere between 2 and 3 weeks. One should allow up to 4 weeks to assess the maximum effect of the injections.
